We all aspire to find happiness in life, and The Resilience Project delves into how embracing gratitude, empathy, and mindfulness can pave the way to a more fulfilled life. From schools to corporate entities and renowned sports teams like AFL and NRL clubs, the Australian Diamonds, and the Australian Cricket Team, many have adopted the principles advocated by The Resilience Project.
Having immersed himself in an Indian village through volunteer work, former teacher Hugh van Cuylenburg was motivated to establish The Resilience Project. This initiative aims to enlighten Australian families, youngsters, and institutions on the significance of gratitude, empathy (compassion), and mindfulness. Reflecting on his experience, Hugh shared, “In this arid community without running water, electricity, or even proper bedding— where sleeping on the floor was the norm—I witnessed how content these individuals were despite their scarce belongings.”
The Resilience Project offers tailored programs to various entities such as professional sports clubs and primary as well as secondary schools. Alongside engaging presentations delivered to schools, students have the opportunity to engage in a curriculum specifically crafted to shift focus towards acknowledgment of one's current blessings rather than dwelling on inadequacies. The curriculum encourages understanding the benefits of assisting others while emphasizing the significance of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.
